12th February 1898 – Northfield Parish Council

774   Mr. S. Hill presented the report of the Recreation Ground Committee relating to the work of laying out Weoley Park Recreation Ground ......................

778   The Clerk produced a sketch plan of the Weoley Park Ground, which had been sent by Messrs. Gibbins asking that the Council would pass their opinion as to the desirability or otherwise of the ground being laid out according to this plan.  After consideration it was decided to suggest the following alterations to the plan.
The entrance to be centrally placed.
The shelter to be erected 2/3rd up the ground and centrally.
Proposed forest trees to be placed in the corners of the ground or to shelter the conveniences the latter to be placed right and left top corners of the ground.
That the sawn oak fence meets with the heartiest approval of the Council.
That the children’s playground be placed near to the road.


25th February 1898 – General Purposes Committee of Northfield Parish Council

The Clerk produced an amended sketch plan showing how it was proposed to lay out the Weoley park recreation ground.  The plan was generally approved and the Clerk was instructed to return the plan, with a request that the shelter should be erected on the brow of the hill.


12th March 1898 – Northfield Parish Council

791   Report of Recreation Ground Committee was given by Mr.S. Hill .....................

795   The Chairman gave a report relating to the alterations proposed to be made in the laying out of Weoley Park Recreation Ground as contained in an amended plan which has been submitted by the Messrs. Gibbins.


16th April 1898 – Northfield Parish Council

Weoley Park Recreation Ground

834   The draft Deed of Conveyance of the above land to the Parish Council was produced and the same was referred to the Recreation Ground Committee to examine at the close of the present meeting.

843   The Recreation Ground Committee stayed at the close of the meeting and the Deed of Conveyance was read by the Chairman, Mr. J.C. Aston.  The Deed was approved and the Clerk was instructed to return same to W. Pointon Solicitors from whom it was received.

In 1898 the Kings Norton and Northfield Urban District Council (KN&N UDC) was formed and took over the responsibilities of the former Northfield Parish Council.
